Introducing the Pocket Hug
Sometimes the most meaningful products are born from moments that break our hearts.
Last week, while I was at work, I walked past a colleague I usually greet each morning. We don't know each other well, but we've exchanged enough smiles and good mornings over time that I immediately sensed something wasn't right.
I hesitated.
I wondered if it was my place to stop and ask if she was okay. For a moment, I kept walking. But something in my heart told me to turn around.
So I did.
I went back to her desk, knelt beside her, and quietly asked, "Are you okay?"
She hesitated before answering.
"I just had a miscarriage."
In that moment, I had no words.
My heart broke for her.
I offered my sympathies, but as I walked away, I couldn't stop thinking about her pain. The conversation stayed with me throughout the day and long after.
A few days later, I saw another friend share that she had also suffered a miscarriage. Once again, my heart ached for someone carrying a loss that few words can truly comfort.
Then, shortly after, a dear friend lost her father after months of loving, caring for, and worrying about him.
Everywhere I turned, it seemed someone I cared about was carrying a burden, grieving a loss, or walking through a season of heartache.
I wanted to do something more than send a sympathy card.
I wanted to give something that could be held.
Something that could serve as a gentle reminder that they are loved, thought about, and not alone - even when grief makes them feel that way.
That's how the Pocket Hug was born.
This little heart was created from compassion and care for those we love. It was designed to fit in a pocket, purse, backpack, bedside table, or wherever someone might need a reminder that someone is thinking of them.
Whether someone is grieving a loss, facing a difficult diagnosis, missing a loved one, going through a hard season, or simply needing encouragement, the Pocket Hug is a small but meaningful way to say:
"I see you."
"I'm thinking about you."
"You are loved."
"You are not alone."
And when words are hard to find, sometimes a small reminder held in your hand can speak louder than anything we could say.
My prayer is that every Pocket Hug carries a little extra comfort, hope, and love to someone who needs it.
Because even in life's hardest moments, we were never meant to walk alone.
With love and gratitude,
Misti
